LEGO Star Wars Figures History
The LEGO Group grew their building block toys empire without ever having to license themes for their LEGO systems. In 1999, just before the release of the first Star Wars prequel, the LEGO Group and LucasFilms decided to work together to create building blocks based on the Star Wars films. This would prove to be a boon for the LEGO brand as it brought over a whole new fanbase thanks to the crossover of Star Wars fans to LEGO.
One of the more unique features of the Star Wars building block LEGO sets are the included LEGO figures. These "mini figures" have always been popular with LEGO collectors but something special happened with the creation of the LEGO Star Wars minifigures. Fans of both LEGO building block sets and of the Star Wars series of films took to these LEGO figures immediately because of the popularity that already existed for the Star Wars characters. This has helped not only build up the LEGO Star Wars building block sets but also has helped promote the LEGO brand of building block toys as a whole.
There are many examples of popular LEGO Star Wars mini figures. The LEGO Darth Vader mini figure is a great example. Darth Vader is one of the most "loved" villains of any film and the LEGO figure is also highly sought after. There is even a very limited edition chrome version of the LEGO Darth Vader that is very expensive.
There are some good places to find LEGO Star Wars mini figures at a decent price. One of the best places to look is the eBay auction site. Many time, with some diligence, you can find a lazy dealer who does not do his research selling these LEGO mini figures at very cheap price, relatively speaking. With some patience it is possible to find a minifigure for a couple of dollars that may actually be worth $50!
